Dozens of students nominated as 2016 Kentucky Ambassadors of Music gathered recently at the University of Louisville for rehearsals and performances before leaving on a 16-day European tour.
Several from bands, orchestras, and choirs in Fayette County Public Schools were chosen based on their musicianship, leadership, and character, including Dustin Tucker Voss and Katie Yoder of Paul Laurence Dunbar High School, Aedin Harpster and Lily Hurt of Tates Creek High School, Eli Dreyer and Bonnie Kuntz of Lafayette High School, and recent Lafayette graduates Bailey Goff and Haley Potter.
The Kentucky Ambassadors of Music tour is an educational program that gives musical honor students a chance to perform and share their talents while gaining cultural enrichment abroad. U of L’s Frederick Speck, director of bands, and Kent Hatteberg, director of choral activities, lead the tour, which this summer includes stops in England, France, Switzerland, Liechtenstein, Austria, Italy, and Germany.
