Students from households whose income is at or below certain levels are eligible for the federal free and reduced-price meal program. Fayette County Public Schools participates in the state’s direct certification, in which agencies provide lists of pre-qualified students. Households who are notified that their students have been directly certified do not need to complete an application. But if a household receives SNAP or KTAP benefits and does not receive a qualification letter from the district’s Child Nutrition office by Aug. 10, please complete one of the applications below. (Families may apply anytime throughout the year, particularly as circumstances change.)
In addition, students at nearly three dozen school sites will all receive free meals during 2016-2017 through the Community Eligibility Provision (CEP), which allows school officials the option to provide free meals for every student in schools where at least 40 percent of the students qualify under direct certification. The National School Lunch Program and School Breakfast Program reimburse the district for the cost at these CEP sites.
- Elementary: Arlington, Breckinridge, Cardinal Valley, Deep Springs, Dixie, Glendover, Harrison, James Lane Allen, Julius Marks, Lansdowne, Mary Todd, Meadowthorpe, Millcreek, Northern, Russell Cave, Southern, Squires, Tates Creek, William Wells Brown, and Yates.
- Middle: Bryan Station, Crawford, Leestown, Lexington Traditional Magnet, Southern, Tates Creek, and Winburn.
- High: Bryan Station.
- Other programs: Carter G. Woodson Academy, Family Care Center, Fayette County Preschool Center, Lexington Day Treatment, Martin Luther King Jr. Academy, The Learning Center, and The Stables.
Applications (choose one):
- Free-and-reduced application -- for households with students not in the CEP group or households with students in both categories. This online application process is faster, easier, and confidential.
- Educational Benefits Form -- for students attending CEP schools, to determine eligibility for additional state and federal benefits. This form will be distributed at the schools during orientation or with start-of-school paperwork. Please complete the application and return it to the school as soon as possible.
