The Kentucky Department of Education has again designated Northern Elementary as a KSI/RTI model site for its intervention processes and protocols. This honor means that KDE will update its website checklist with Northern continuing as a resource for effective programs and practices that other schools might want to emulate.
Staff from KDE’s Office of Teaching and Learning observed classrooms, intervention lessons, and data collection routines, and interviewed a variety of employees including Principal Meredith Ramage. After the March 9 visit, Northern was again deemed a model site, with exemplary practices in these areas:
- Use of learning targets and Kentucky academic standards;
- School implementation team;
- Student intervention team;
- Student intervention plans;
- Diagnostic assessments and progress monitoring;
- Use of resources;
- Family involvement; and
- Professional learning.
Last month, Liberty Elementary received top scores in all 19 categories.
