The Class of 2019 at the Gatton Academy of Mathematics and Science in Kentucky will include seven students from Fayette County Public Schools: Pranay Agrawal of Paul Laurence Dunbar High School, Jackson Codispoti of Lafayette High School, Elvin Irihamye of Dunbar, Ivy Irihamye of Dunbar, Ethan Volk of Tates Creek High School, Subershan Wigna-Kumar of Dunbar, and Sarah Yaacoub of Lafayette. They will spend their junior and senior years on the Bowling Green campus and graduate with at least 60 college credit hours.
Applicants were evaluated based on ACT/SAT scores, high school grades, awards, extracurricular activities, responses to essay and short-answer questions, and letters of recommendation. Of the 185 candidates then invited to interview, 95 sophomores were admitted.
The Gatton Academy is a state-supported, residential program for high school students interested in advanced science and math careers. It provides a rich living and learning environment.
