A group featuring three students from Fayette County Public Schools picked up top high school honors in the annual Macauley Chamber Music Competition, hosted March 25 by the University of Louisville’s School of Music. The Lakeshore Quartet included Lafayette senior Madison Jones and junior William Arnold on violin, and Paul Laurence Dunbar freshman Jeffrey Shen on viola. They performed String Quartet No. 3, Op. 44 by Felix Mendelssohn.
Honorable mention went to the Whirlwind Piano Quintet. This all-Lafayette group included Katherine Wild on flute, Karlee Caswell on clarinet, Ntinyari Miriti on bassoon, Hope Bennett on French horn, and Carson Crovo on piano.
