For the 2017 REIMAGINE project, nearly three dozen local artists created pieces based on elementary students’ ideas. The young muses hailed from nine elementary schools including Breckinridge, Coventry Oak, Garrett Morgan, Maxwell, Northern, Southern, and William Wells Brown.
The artists each chose a child’s drawing that spoke to them and recreated it using their own style and medium. The works are exhibited together through June 4, and the collaborative originals will be auctioned to raise funds for public school arts programs.
An artists’ reception is set for 4 to 5 p.m. Friday May 19 at the Downtown Arts Center, 141 Main St. The Gallery Hop and final bidding will follow that evening.
