Fayette County Public Schools will again offer the STARTALK Chinese Language Program for students in grades K-5 to practice the language and learn about the culture during summer break. In the free two-week program, classes will provide authentic Chinese cultural experiences and hands-on activities in an immersion environment as students engage in conversational communication, interpretive listening and presentational speaking.
The program is set for 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. weekdays June 16 through 27 at Tates Creek Elementary, with the student showcase at 1 p.m. June 27. Applicants must currently be studying Chinese in an FCPS classroom; this summer program is not for beginners. Enrollment is limited, and a waiting list is expected. If the child cannot commit to attend the entire program, please do not sign up.
Online application – The deadline is May 6.
Bus transportation will not be available, but a light snack and a school lunch will be provided daily. For other questions, please contact Alicia Vinson, (859) 381-4162.
