Students head abroad via Sister Cities exchange

The Lexington Sister Cities Commission  provides student-exchange opportunities to teenagers in Fayette County and surrounding areas, giving them a chance to travel and experience the everyday culture of another country. In 2015, 34 students are participating in exchange trips to Deauville, France; County Kildare, Ireland; and Shinhidaka, Japan. Most are from Fayette County Public Schools.

  • Bryan Station High: Collier King and Karishma Srinivasan
  • Henry Clay High: Quinn Andrews, Avery Gray, Marissa Jones, Sabrina Lozada and Jack May
  • Lafayette High: Sarah Bowen, Ashton Brown, Evan Bunch, Lauren Burgess, Joshua Dhir, Aaron Lehew, Ryan Lemond, Maggie Thomas, Grayson Ward and Abby Wrighston
  • Paul Laurence Dunbar High: Katherine Rintamaa and Sara Talwalkar
  • Tates Creek High: Griffin Gensheimer, Amanda Harris and Elise Partain
  • Winburn Middle School: Olivia Klee  

Lexington Sister Cities strives to “promote peace through mutual respect, understanding and cooperation – one individual, one community at a time.” Families also host a corresponding student in Lexington to show them an American and Kentucky experience. For more information, contact assistant director Sarah Martin at (859) 258-3137.
