The Local Planning Committee hosted a public forum Nov. 15 and voted to forward its proposed District Facilities Plan to the Fayette County Board of Education for consideration at its Dec. 17 meeting.

The LPC developed the plan to meet projected population growth and enrollment needs. Among the recommendations is construction of seven schools in the next four years, including a new 1,800-student high school. The plan also prioritizes projects such as school renovations, building component life-cycle replacement (HVAC, roof, electrical and plumbing), and administrative or support structures.

The LPC consists of parents, school-level administrators, teachers, community members and school board members. Community members are board-appointed, parents are chosen by the 16th District PTA, and teachers and administrators are elected by their peers.
