The seventh annual FCPS Summer Robotics Camp for elementary students will be June 2-4 at Beaumont, Crawford, Morton and Winburn middle schools. Because of limited space, children must apply for a spot, and only current FCPS fourth-graders are eligible.
Campers will experience a fun, engaging and challenging curriculum as they work in teams to design and construct a robot. They will also program their robots to perform a series of functions repeated precisely while maneuvering through an obstacle course. The instruction will advance students through the curriculum and labs at a quick pace, so participants need to be present for the entire camp. On the final day, students will compete with SumoBots.
- Online registration (Deadline: May 8)
While the camp is free, families are expected to provide transportation, with student drop-off beginning at 8 a.m. and pick-up by 11:30 a.m. that Tuesday and Wednesday and 2:30 p.m. on Thursday. Snacks are provided all three days, and lunch will be provided on Thursday. (Bookmark the camp details at www.fcps.net/robotics.)
This camp is sponsored by the district’s Office of Career & Technical Education. For more information, contact program manager Kim Lyon.
