Students from technical centers in several area counties participated in the SkillsUSA Region 9 competition March 3 in Lexington. Eastside hosted all the leadership contests in the morning, and Eastside and Southside hosted the technical competitions after lunch. High school students placing first, second, and third could qualify for state competition, depending on the event. Students also must have met an acceptable standard to advance, reaching at least 60 percent of the contest’s total points in order to compete at the Kentucky SkillsUSA state conference in April.
