TSA clubs from Southern Middle, Lexington Traditional Magnet and Lafayette, Paul Laurence Dunbar and Tates Creek high schools snagged a total of 17 first-place awards at the Technology Student Association’s 2013 statewide conference, and Southern student Michael Head was elected 2013-2014 KYTSA secretary.
In addition, Southern sponsor Staci Davis received the KYTSA Outstanding Recognition Award for her service to the organization, and Jennifer Williams of LTMS was named Kentucky’s TSA Adviser of the Year.
In TSA, students integrate science, technology, engineering and mathematics concepts through co-curricular activities and competitive events. The April 22-24 conference in Louisville offered intense contests and creative displays in everything from Go Green Manufacturing and Structural Engineering to Medical Technology Issues and Leadership Strategies. This year’s national conference is June 28 through July 2 in Nashville.
