NHRPElena Castro, a senior in the Spanish Immersion Program at Bryan Station High School, has been selected for the College Board’s National Hispanic Recognition Program (NHRP). Every year, the NHRP salutes about 5,000 of the 250,000 Hispanic/Latino students who take the PSAT/NMSQT. The NHRP is an academic honor that can be included on college applications. It’s not a scholarship, but colleges do use this program to identify academically exceptional Hispanic/Latino students.

Students who are at least one-quarter Hispanic/Latino are encouraged to take the test in October of their junior year. If they achieve the minimum required selection index score (this qualifying level can vary by state, region, and territory each year) and earn a cumulative GPA of 3.5 or higher by the middle of their junior year, they may apply for the NHRP.
